MICHIGAN WILDLIFE PRESENTATIONS FROM NATURE DISCOVERY
Finding and Rearing Giant Silk Moths
- Some of our continent's largest, most impressive moths can be found right here in Michigan, yet many people can go years without encountering one.
Becoming privy to their life cycles and behaviors greatly increases your chances of finding Cecropia, Polyphemus, Promethea and Luna Moths in any metamorphic stage. As a result, larvae become easy to attain and successfully rear into adult moths. Color slides are enhanced with live adult moths and/or newly hatched larvae (June), larger larvae (July-August), or cocoons (September-May).
With advanced notice, newly hatched larvae (in June) can be distributed to participants to take home
