Jim McGrath, the founder of Nature Discovery, has a degree in Wildlife Biology from Michigan State University and has over 21 years experience as an interpretive naturalist. He is employed by the Michigan DNR, Lansing Community College, as well as both public and private schools. He is also a regular natural-science teacher at area Montessori schools. Jim runs a very popular summer day camp program and conducts numerous interpretive walks, field trips and eco-tours throughout the year. A strong lifelong interest in the natural world, coupled with an enthusiasm to share knowledge with others, is key to Jim’s popularity with students of all ages.

Carol McGrath has a degree in Biology from the University of Illinois.
After working several years as a chemist in the private sector, she has turned teacher and assists her husband Jim with wildlife education in addition to other aspects of science education. Carol is currently contracted by Fairfield Elementary School in Lansing as their specialist science teacher as well as teaching chemistry and physical science at the Montessori Center. Her detailed knowledge and hand-on approach are consistent with the Michigan Essential Goals and Objectives for Science Education. Carol’s love of science is infectious to students at the elementary, middle and high school levels. |
